How to use Interdental Brushes

Use dry unless otherwise advised by a dental professional. Size really matters so don’t force a brush between teeth, use a smaller size or use an alternative such as floss (see Gumchucks for easy flossing).

Use the largest size that will fit comfortably between the teeth – the bristles must contact the tooth surface for effective cleaning. Think of cleaning the neck of a bottle with a bottle brush – if the bristles don’t contact the surface its not cleaning.

The size and shape of the space between teeth can change for a variety of reasons, tooth movement, healing after gum treatment, so it’s important to review the size used regularly.
