Collis Curve Toothbrush

The Collis curve toothbrush is designed for anyone who needs help to remove plaque biofilm and clean teeth thoroughly, especially around the gum line. Angulating toothbrush bristles to clean the gingival sulcus (crevice were tooth and gum meet) on all surfaces of every tooth can be really challenging. The Collis curve makes this much easier.

The Collis Curve toothbrush was developed by American dentist George Collis. He designed a toothbrush with two rows of curved bristles that is extremely effective at removing plaque biofilm especially around the gum margins. In a clinical trial sponsored by the American Dental Association it was shown to remove up to 40% more plaque than a conventional toothbrush and improved the patients’ gingival health by up to 68%.

How to use the Collis curve – Just backwards and forwards in a gentle scrub action. You will feel the bristles cleaning along the gum line.

The Collis Curve Adult toothbrush – medium bristles. 

• The adult medium toothbrush has quite firm bristles. Suitable for those with healthy gums and/or those who have previously used the Collis Curve toothbrush. The medium brush can also be used for cleaning orthodontic fixed braces ( train tracks).
  Bristle diameter is 0.28 cm trim height. Adult length of head 1.19 cm.

The Collis Curve Soft toothbrush

• The  soft brush has a softer bristle and is suited to anyone who has never used the Collis Curve toothbrush. Suitable for those with sensitivity, sore gums or after surgery.  May be used by those undergoing cancer treatment.

The Collis Curve Perio toothbrush

• The Periodontal brush is suitable those with gum recession, undergoing gum treatment or have a history of periodontal (gum) disease. It can also be used for those with orthodontic appliances (braces), and also those who have a lot of dental restorations e.g. crowns, bridge, implants, etc.
  Adult length 1.27 cm – Bristle diameter is 0.28 cm with longer trim height.

The Collis Curve Junior toothbrush

• The Collis Curve Junior has a small head and shorter handle for cleaning all surfaces of teeth. Use with an age appropriate fluoride toothpaste. Under 3 years at least 1000ppm fluoride. Over 3 years at least 1350ppm fluoride.

Brush last thing at night and one other time every day. Children up to around age 8 will need assistance when toothbrushing to clean effectively. Many will need help beyond this age as they move between their baby teeth and full adult teeth. See our tips pages for advice.
