The bristles are soft and kind to gums but effective at plaque biofilm removal. Use the brush dry with a smear (under 3) or pea sized blob (3 years +) of fluoride toothpaste (at least 1000ppm). Spread it around teeth then brush every surface and gumline of all teeth – no mean feat on a small wriggly human. Don’t restrict yourself to brushing in the bathroom. If they are more settled/distracted elsewhere – go for it!

Children don’t have the dexterity to brush their own teeth until they are around 7-8 years old. Even after this age they will need to be supported and assisted. During the period of baby teeth being lost and permanent teeth erupting it can be really hard to clean thoroughly. to brush every surface of each tooth and along the gum line. Brush last thing at night and one other time every day. After brushing don’ rinse all the toothpaste away. Keep sugary food and drink to mealtimes only and avoid these before bed is a key part of preventing cavities. Along with regular dental checks.
